The final whistle has blown for the Yabbies as they say goodbye to another season of footy, and the club grouped together to celebrate their mighty achievements.
President Nick Duff said their presentation night celebrated the players, coaches, volunteers, supporters and families for a year of exceptional commitment, teamwork and club spirit.
“We had about 60 people attend, which is awesome and it was very well received by everyone,” he said of their presentation night.
Now entering dormant time, Nick says it is the time of year for their players and coaches to enjoy a quiet off-season period with no rugby.
Although it wasn’t the end results they had hoped for, Nick says he is proud nonetheless of the sportsmanship shown on and off the field.

“As you start the season, you always hope to finish on top or be the best team at the competition,” he says.
“However, given a lot of variables throughout the season, we are really, really happy with where we finished off with new coaches and a lot of new players that we welcomed into our club, which was awesome.
“Overall, everyone had really positive good vibes, and that’s the main thing.
“We want people to enjoy playing and enjoy being a part of the club, first and foremost. That’s a big takeaway from the season, and I think we really got that out of everyone. So that was really pleasing.”

Nick says they also had a successful season of field, raising $30,000 throughout the year for various charities within the community. A feat, he says, they are immensely proud of.
As for next year, Nick says they are already looking forward to the season after a good rest.
“I have no doubt we’ll be able to retain coaches and many of the players and welcome new players again for another good season ahead,” he says.
The Yabbies and Yabbettes form the heart of the community, and Young can expect great things moving forward from these incredible teams.
