For more than five decades, SWS-bank has been a cornerstone of the Hilltops business community, making its role as major sponsor of the 75th Annual National Cherry Festival a natural fit.
“As a member-owned bank, we reinvest profits back into the communities we serve rather than paying shareholders,” said Chief of Strategy and Engagement Jayson Smith. “In 2024/2025 alone, SWSbank contributed more than $100,000 in sponsorship funding across our local region. Supporting the area’s biggest annual event – especially in its 75th year – is exactly what a truly local business should do.”
SWSbank first came on board as major sponsor in 2024, but heavy rain forced the event’s cancellation. One casualty of the wash-out was the planned debut of SWSbank’s new mascots, Penny Saver and Benny Banker.

“We were all set to introduce Penny and Benny in last year’s parade,” Mr Smith said. “Instead, they stayed dry and spent the year popping up in other promotions. They’re very excited to finally lead this year’s parade, handing out goody bags with some of our dedicated staff.”
The mascots – SWSbank’s own superhero duo – tend to go on some unexpected adventures to interesting places,” Mr Smith joked. “You’ll spot them in videos on our branch screens and increasingly on our social channels as they explore the towns we serve.”
Penny and Benny will also join the Multicultural Fiesta on Friday night, meeting families, sharing hugs, and handing out a few surprises.

For SWSbank, being the major sponsor is about more than logos and banners – it’s about showing up.
“One of the best things about being a local business is that we can fully immerse ourselves in the Festival,” Mr Smith said.
“Our staff live and work in this community, and they’re genuinely excited to play such an active role in this year’s celebrations.”
