Steph Cooke MP with 2024 Cherry Twirl Participants.
The National Cherry Festival Committee is delighted to announce the return of one of the festival’s most adored family events — the Cherry Twirl Competition, taking place Sunday 7 December at 12pm on the main stage in Anderson Park, Young.
Open to children aged 0–10 years, this fun and friendly competition invites young participants to twirl, spin and show off their very best moves. No rehearsals or group performances are needed – simply enter on the day, dress in your best cherry-inspired out fit and enjoy the moment! Families can register at the Cherry Twirl Registration Table, located beside the main stage, from 11am on the day of the event. The competition runs for approximately 20 minutes.
To add to the excitement, prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Boy and Best Dressed Girl across two age categories – 0 to 4 and 5 to 10 years.
Cherry-themed costumes are encouraged and always add to the colour and excitement of the event. For more information, please contact the Hilltops Council Tourism & Events Team on 1800 628 233, via email at events@hilltops.nsw.gov.au or visit nationalcherryfestival.com.au.
Families can also collect programs from the Young Visitor Information Centre.

Community Groups and Businesses Invited to Join the 75th National Cherry Festival
The National Cherry Festival Committee is excited to invite local community groups and businesses to take part in one of Young’s most beloved traditions – the 75th National Cherry Festival Street Parade, happening Saturday 6 December at 4pm.
A highlight of the festival each year, the Street Parade brings together the community in a vibrant display of creativity, colour and cherry-themed fun.
Community groups and businesses are invited to take part by entering a float, forming a marching group, or simply having members or employees walk proudly behind their banner.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the National Cherry Festival, and we want to make the parade our brightest and boldest yet,” the Committee said.
“It’s a wonderful chance for entrants to work together, express their creativity and create memories that will last long after the celebrations end.”
To add to the excitement, cash prizes are on offer for entries that embrace the cherry theme:
• Best Overall Cherry-Themed Entrant – $500
• Runner-Up – $300
• Third Place – $200
