The Lions Club of Young held a “Pink Day” trots event to raise money for the McGrath Foundation on October 7 at the Young Showgrounds from 5:30 pm. It was a harness racing charity day focussing on raising money for cancer care. If you missed out on this one, don’t worry, as they are doing it again on November 11.
The Lions Club of Young said, “We are fundraising to ensure that no one goes through cancer without the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse.
“We are calling on you, our Neighbours, sports clubs, schools, and local businesses to get behind our efforts and help us create a visual show of support for people in our own local area experiencing cancer.
“McGrath Cancer Care Nurses help individuals and their families affected by cancer by providing invaluable clinical, psychosocial, and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.”
The Lions Club said that a minimum of $1,000.00 of their proceeds are being donated directly to the McGrath Foundation.
“We will have a variety of merchandise you can purchase, with all proceeds going straight to the McGrath Foundation. We are also running a raffle and auction; details can be found on our flyers in local shops or on our photos area on this page later this month. Later in the year, we are working towards holding a fun-filled community Cricket event. In the meantime jump on board and help paint Young pink.
