The Young Yabbies are approaching a pivotal moment in their 2025 South West Fuels Cup campaign as they prepare to face the Temora Tuskers this Saturday, June 14, at Temora Recreation Ground. A loss in this away fixture could see the Yabbies fall out of the top four, jeopardising their finals aspirations.
Under the guidance of player-coach Will Munday, the Yabbies have demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the season. However, inconsistency in key matches has left them with a 3-4 record.
“This is a must-win game for us,” Munday emphasised. “We’ve shown we can compete with the best, but we need to be more consistent. The Tuskers are a formidable side, and we can’t afford to take them lightly.”
The Yabbies’ previous encounter with the Tuskers ended in a narrow defeat, and with the Tuskers currently sitting in the top four, this rematch carries significant implications for both teams.
“Every match is crucial, but this one feels especially important,” Munday added. “We’ve got the talent and the drive now it’s about executing our game plan and supporting each other on the field.”
The Yabbies’ forward pack, led by Munday, has been a standout this season, providing a solid platform for their backs. However, the team recognises the need to improve their defensive structures and disci-pline to secure a positive result against the Tuskers.
“We’ve been working hard on our defensive systems,” Munday noted. “Against the Tuskers, we can’t afford to give them any easy opportunities.
