Hilltops Car and Bike Show

The Hilltops Car and Bike Show is returning to Carrington Park, Young on March 22, from 10am to 2pm with free entry. The event promises a thrilling showcase of vehicles for motor enthusiasts of all kinds. Organised by the Cherry Capital Collector’s Club, this annual event is set to captivate visitors with an impressive variety of cars, motorbikes, trucks, and more.

The event which usually runs alongside the Young Cherry Festival, was forced to reschedule following heavy rain during the Cherry Festival weekend. David Curtis, Secretary of the Cherry Capital Collectors Club, shared his excitement about the upcoming event, “We had over 100mm of rain on the Friday of the Cherry Festival, which forced us to cancel,” Curtis explained. “However, we’re excited to reschedule and offer the community a chance to enjoy it this March.”

The event has proven to be a popular one in the past, with around 90 vehicles on display at the last event, two years ago, “This year, I’ve been promoting it all over Facebook and other platforms, so we’re hoping for an even bigger turnout,” Curtis said. “We’re expecting 120-130 vehicles, but even 60 or 70 would still be considered a success, especially given how busy this time of year is.”

The Hilltops Car and Bike Show welcomes all types of vehicles from the sleekest late model Commodores to vintage gems like a 1920 Chev truck. There are no restrictions, and Curtis encourages owners of all types of vehicles to participate.

“Whether it’s your modern car or something from a bygone era, we want to see it,” he added. “It’s about celebrating all things automotive.”

While Curtis anticipates a larger turnout, the show remains an event that is always open to newcomers. Registration will take place on the day, making it a flexible opportunity for vehicle owners to join.

The event has attracted participants from nearby regions such as Canberra, Crookwell, and Temora, and is widely advertised across various towns including Coota, Harden, Boorowa, and beyond.

Behind the scenes, Curtis and a small dedicated team of volunteers work tirelessly to organise the show.

“There’s only about half a dozen of us who put it together,” he said.

“But once the day arrives, it takes a lot more hands-on effort with things like registration desks and traffic marshals.”

Come along and share your passion for cars and bikes and enjoy the amenities.
