The C Grade Grand Final of the South West Slopes Cricket League saw the Criterion Bin Chickens get home comfortably in a game played on Saturday at Coota. The birth place of ‘Our Don Bradman’ played host to all three finals and it also saw three ducks on the scorecard for the Bribbaree Rams.
Vice Captain Daniel Woods went lbw for a Quacker after 4 balls. Liam Miller went to work scoring 50 with five 4s and partnered 7 of his team mates in the process. His team mates let him down terribly with the tail end having to wag to make it a somewhat credible total. If they had fired, it may have been a different story. Batters three through six could only add 5 runs for 4 wickets with Daniel Dovern adding 22, Caleb Schiller chipping in with 18 from 9th position while Zabir Alam hit 13. All out for 119 and with 5.1 overs left, what could have been was left on the field.

Best bowler for the Bin Chickens was Craig Willis with 4 for 32 off 8 with one maiden. The Criterion didn’t muck around on their way to 120 for the loss of 4 wickets.
Openers Jacob Dodge and Javarn Hurcum hit 29 between them, before Craig Willis put the game beyond doubt with five 4s and 47 runs not out. It was a shame he couldn’t get his 50, but was ably assisted by Jack McRae who hit 32 off 28 with two 4s. Ethan Richens was left on 4 not out.
Best bowling was Bribbaree’s Justin Boyd, their Captain, with figures of two for 24 off five overs. It’s all over for this season as attention now quickly turns to the winter sport and the lead up and trials before the commencement of the competitions.
The Bin Chickens may be headed up a grade after discussion around B Grade sides moving up ensued at the end of the season. Their performance was very good on Saturday.
