The Uniting Church Young held their Christmas Carols on Saturday, the 13th of December, from 5:00 pm.
The community were asked to bring some refreshments and enjoy a relaxing time in the Young Community Garden (brought back to life by Boys to the Bush) located beside the church for an afternoon of carols.
From 6:30 pm, they enjoyed an evening of carols in the church for all to enjoy and sing along with a special guest organist. The church was decorated with a display of Christmas trees and ornaments. Children had a fun time locating the cheeky elves and the Care Bears.
Pastor Adrian Single said it was a great community event.
“It was a beautiful evening, and a lot of people were there, lots of colour, lots of excitement, lots of children. Had a wonderful time singing a lot of good old traditional hymns and then a lot of modern hymns for the children. A great night was had by everybody there,” he said.
“It is an event that we try to do every year.
“It’s a time that we can open our doors up, well, our doors are always open, but it’s a time to invite people in at a joyous time of year when everybody can just come together and have a great time singing songs that they all know and enjoying themselves and getting together.
“We will have a Christmas Day service at 9.30 am on Christmas Day, open to anyone.
“Given the year we’ve all had, people should be sincerely looking for a way forward of peace and goodwill to everybody. That can start in the Church with fellowship.”
There is plenty to do if you have no other plans for Christmas, all around town.
