The Young and Regional Farmers Market Annual General Meeting was on Tuesday, the 21st of October at 5:30 pm at the Young Services Club. Committee positions were filled, and some new faces have come to be part of the team.
Helen Sell remains as President, and Dennis Foster was elected Treasurer.
Beverly Moloney of the Committee said there was a better crowd there than usual at the meeting.
“There are some new people in positions. I was the Secretary for the whole year, but we have Sarah Plackett, who is now our new Secretary. She’s a young newcomer, so that’s really good. “It’s wonderful to see some young people take over some of these roles.
“None of the positions are very difficult to do. It’s not a huge organisation, but we are trying to spread the word around, and it would be wonderful if people would do it.
“The last couple of markets have picked up because of the nice, warmer weather. There are a few visitors around, and this week we had 16 stalls, which is wonderful. A new variety of things is always good.
“We’ve got a new lady making take-away foods. She’s from Bangladesh, and she sells such beautiful food. We’ve got a new lady coming with soap next week, homemade soap, and we’ve got a couple of good cooks. We had a few plants there recently. A veggie man is coming too. We hope he keeps coming, but you just never know from one market to the next who you are going to be getting.
“We’ve got farm-fresh free range eggs and lots of crafts.
“Anyone who is thinking of having a stall at the market just needs to contact me. The number is on all the calendars, or they can come to market on Saturday, November 1 and see me.
“It has got to be homemade or homegrown, that’s our criteria. We’d love to have someone bring more plants or bring seedlings to sell, which would be wonderful at this time of year.”
