On Saturday, November 29, from 9:00 am at the Koorawatha Showgrounds will be the Koorawatha Markets. Bookings are still being taken for stallholders at a cost of $20, with all proceeds going to the Koorawatha Progress Society.
Karen Patrech, an organiser of the event, said that they have moved this time to the Showgrounds.
“Previously, we’ve had a spring market in September and we have also had car boot sales over at the Showgrounds, but we’ve decided to combine them all and have everything at the Showgrounds from now on because there are more facilities and a bigger space.
“We are hoping for more stallholders and better facilities for everyone to spread out.
“We’ve had a spring market and then two regular markets, but next year we will probably have the markets more often because we will combine everything. With the markets being at the end of November, we’re going to probably have Santa Claus giving out lollies and hopefully a face painter and some other things that would make it more interesting.
“We are looking for stallholders, anyone who wants to have a little stall. It’s a good way to bring people to Koorawatha and provide a bit of support for the village, and it raises money for the Koorawatha Progress Association, and we can help the community with that money as well.
“It brings recognition from surrounding areas about the village, and also just raising the money helps the community with different little projects. The Koorawatha Progress Association has raised money for various things and we look for projects that need doing around the village and try to coordinate with the Council for those as well, and get some grants. We had a grant that we got from the Council for a big playground in the park previously. We are focusing on things like fixing up the cemetery and putting some beautification around the village.
“We have a flyer that is available to be emailed out, the flyers go out to the tourist centres, craft shop, library, and a few of the takeaways around town in Young and Cowra. If anyone would like one, please send a message to koorawathamarkets@gmail.com and address it to Karen or Kathryn.
“We just encourage people to come out for a good day. People can bring their dogs along as long as they are on a leash.
“One of the things that one of our stallholders is offering is a microchip service. They have a pet food supply in Cowra. They’re coming with pet food and treats and stuff, but they’re also going to be offering a microchip service so people can bring their leashed or pets in a carry cage and get a microchip service because they have a mobile microchip service.”
