Get ready, Stars of Young is back and tickets are officially on sale for one of the town’s most anticipated events of the year. After a four year hiatus, the dazzling community dance spectacular returns on Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, at the Young Services Club. With a Winter Wonderland theme and cocktail dress code, this year’s Stars of Young promises two nights of glamour, laughter, great food, and unforgettable entertainment all in the name of raising vital funds for the Cancer Council.
Tickets are available through the Stars of Young and are expected to sell out quickly, with only 580 seats available across the two nights. Each evening includes a two course meal, exciting live performances, raffles, auctions, and, of course, the chance to cheer on a lineup of brave locals hitting the dance floor for a cause close to many hearts.
Organiser Meagan Vearing says excitement is already building. “We’re thrilled to finally bring Stars of Young back to the stage,” she said. “This is our first event since before COVID, so we’ve rebuilt it from the ground up and it’s all come together beautifully.”
This year’s local stars come from all walks of life, with participants representing a wide range of local businesses and organisations. The 2025 cast includes: Chris Duff from Delta Ag, Brian Davis from Juicy Lucy, Xavier Bonsembiante from Mercy House, Peter Cockburn from CBN Building, Brooke Hurth-Gye from Hussy, Corey McNare, dancing independently, Emma Duffy from STF Financial Planning, Maria Zirkee from Regency Jewellers, Nayah Freeman from the Cherrypickers
These community members are learning choreographed routines and will perform live on stage, competing for awards such as Best Costume, People’s Choice, Judges’ Choice, and the coveted Highest Fundraiser trophy. Each star has their own donation page, with nomination pins placed around town and online links available via the “STARS of Young” Facebook page.
“It’s such a fun and meaningful way to come together as a community,” Vearing added. “There’s no entry fee to become a star, and every dollar raised goes to support Cancer Council’s world-class research, prevention programs, and support services for people affected by cancer.”
While the main focus is on fundraising and community spirit, the event is also a top tier social night, with high-energy entertainment, guest judges, and a few surprises in store.
“This event really does have it all,” Vearing said. “It’s a celebration of courage, community, and the determination to create a cancer-free future. We encourage everyone to dress up, have fun, and get behind our stars.”
With limited tickets and high demand, locals are encouraged to act fast. “Keep an eye on the STARS of Young Facebook page for ticket updates. They go fast and you won’t want to miss it,” Vearing said.
